AI Act Monitor
How we select and verify changes
The monitor is not an unedited news stream. We only publish changes after checking their source, status and practical materiality.
1. Official sources first
We follow the official publications, policy pages and FAQs covered by this monitor, including sources from EUR-Lex, the European Commission, the AI Office and European standards bodies. We expand that source list editorially when a new material theme requires it. Every update links to at least one canonical official source.
2. Material changes only
Not every amended document or news item deserves an alert. A change enters the monitor when at least one of these questions can be answered convincingly with yes:
- The change alters what organisations are legally required to do or when an obligation applies.
- The change calls for reassessing policies, registers, contracts, documentation, training or technical measures.
- The change provides a concrete, authoritative implementation route for an existing obligation.
- The change materially alters the supervision or enforcement position.
3. Source facts and analysis remain separate
Each impact note separates what the official publication states from our editorial explanation of its meaning and possible next steps. Legal status and organisational impact have separate labels: a final document may have little impact, while a draft may require substantial preparation.
4. Detection assists, editors decide
- 1. Detect: the linked official publications are automatically checked for changes at regular intervals.
- 2. Verify: the source, date, status and relation to AI Act provisions are checked.
- 3. Assess: we determine for which roles and topics the change is material.
- 4. Publish: the impact note enters the public monitor only after editorial review.
5. Visible freshness and corrections
The monitor shows the latest fully successful check of the sources being followed. Each impact note also shows its own publication and verification date. If a source later changes, we review the signal and update the note and status when it is material. A missing or incorrect link can be reported through the contact page.
